We're looking for a Works Manager to join our Natural Resources team, working on projects in the Thames Valley region (North). In this role you will support various projects on the Thames Water WAAP Programme and help deliver the requirements of the individual project to both above and below ground assets.
Location: Harpenden, Hertfordshire
Contract: Permanent, Full Time – flexible and part time hours may be available if desired, just let us know
Responsibilities
We're looking for a Works Manager to join our NRNN business unit Water business unit. In this role you'll have a critical role within our construction site team and be responsible for managing and coordinating all site activities. This includes overseeing subcontractors, ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations and working materials, and driving the project to be completed successfully within agreed timelines and budgets. The ideal candidate will be a highly organised and proactive individual with strong leadership skills and a proven track record in construction site management.
Your day to day will include:
Site Supervision: Oversee all on-site construction activities, ensuring work meets the required quality standards, specifications, and drawings.
- Subcontractor Management: Manage and coordinate subcontractors, monitoring their performance and ensuring they meet deadlines and quality expectations. Address any performance issues promptly and professionally.
- Planning & Scheduling: Contribute to developing the project schedule and monitor progress against it. Identify and address any potential delays or issues.
- Materials Management: Manage and control on-site materials, ensuring efficient procurement, storage, and usage. Minimise waste and ensure accurate record-keeping.
- Cost Control: Monitor project costs and identify opportunities for cost savings. Work within the agreed budget and report any variances to the Project Manager.
What are we looking for?
This Works Manager is great for you if you have:
- Proven experience as a Works Manager or in a similar role within the construction industry
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
- Excellent understanding of health and safety legislation (e.g., CDM Regulations).
- CSCS Black Card (or equivalent).
- SMSTS or SSSTS qualification.
