Family friendly policies

At Kier, we want to support our people when it really matters.

  • Maternity leave

    Once you’ve worked at Kier for 26 weeks or more, you can benefit from 26 weeks of maternity leave at full pay.

  • Paternity leave

    After you’ve worked at Kier for 26 weeks or more, you can enjoy 8 weeks of paternity leave at full pay with flexibility on when it can be taken.

  • Adoption leave

    In line with our maternity leave policy, once you’ve worked at Kier for 26 weeks or more, you can benefit from up to 26 weeks of adoption leave at full pay.

  • Dependent care leave

    If there’s an emergency involving a dependent, you can have a reasonable amount of time off work to care for your dependent without having to worry about work.

  • Surrogacy Leave

    If you become the legal parent of a child under a surrogacy arrangement, you’ll be entitled to up to 52 weeks’ adoption leave.

  • Pregnancy Loss

    Pregnancy loss can be traumatic, whether it’s you, your partner or your surrogate who directly experiences the loss. We offer all employees who experience a pregnancy loss two weeks’ paid leave.

  • Menopause Support

    We offer support and guidance for our employees and their managers when they’re managing menopause symptoms including reasonable working adjustments.

  • Carers policy

    Our carers policy allows you to take up to 5 days’ paid leave and flexible working arrangements if you have caring responsibilities outside of routine childcare.

  • Foster Care Policy

    If you are a foster carer, you can take up to 5 days’ paid leave and flexible working arrangements to help support you with your caring commitments.

  • Fertility Policy

    We understand the emotional impact of undergoing fertility treatment which is why we have introduced up to 5 days additional leave for colleagues who are having treatment and up to 2 days to support a partner during treatment.
