We're looking for an Apprentice Civil Engineer to join our Rail team based in Salford, Greater Manchester working towards a Level 3 apprenticeship in Civil Engineering.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a leading construction and infrastructure services company on an apprenticeship. Whilst working towards a recognised qualification, you'll be able to put your learnings into practice in your day-to-day role, helping you progress within your chosen career.

Location: Salford, Greater Manchester (Will then be based on a Rail site in the North-West region, travel required)

Contract: Permanent, full-time (Some weekend and night shift working can be expected)

Salary: £17,920 per annum

How does an apprenticeship work?

As an Apprentice Civil Engineer you'll be enrolled onto a Level 3 apprenticeship in Civil Engineering, giving you the opportunity to earn whilst you learn.

You'll be working within the Kier Rail team, supporting a wide range of rail infrastructure projects for a diverse customer base. Our projects range from major improvements to complete construction of new stations, with specialist teams, we manage complex works from conception through to delivery.

Your day to day will include:

• Assist with the planning and the designing of rail projects
• Carry out site investigations, liaising with clients and subcontractors
• Setting out and site engineering duties
• Trained in personal track safety (PTS) for working on operational railways
• Ensuring projects run to health and safety, sustainability, and legal requirements

The role of Apprentice Civil Engineer is great for you if:

• You can build and maintain strong relationships
• Can work collaboratively within a team
• Have experience in using various IT packages effectively

Due to the nature of the role and projects, you must be aged 18 years or over and hold a full driving licence.
