We're looking for a Senior Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager for our Strategic Projects UK construction operations.

 

Location: Flexible within the UK

Contract: Permanent – Full Time

 

Responsibilities

This role provides Health, Safety, and Wellbeing leadership for the business. The Senior Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Manager is the point of contact and conduit for the business unit and the Kier Construction Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Director.

Within the role, duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Contribute and actively promote the Business Stream HSW Strategy and its objectives as well as aligning the Business Unit HSW Strategy to deliver overall key performance indicators and drive continual improvement in HSW.
  • Coordinates the compilation of HSW reports, and the dissemination of Kier Construction and Kier Group HSW information within the business unit
  • Analyse HSW data produced by the HSW SHE Co-ordinator and inform the business unit of actions accordingly.
  • Hosts and presents the quarterly business unit health, safety and wellbeing workshops where applicable  
  • Ensure regular communication on all Health, Safety, and Wellbeing issues from Kier Group is distributed to the business unit
  • Co-ordinate and undertake reviews of business unit HSW Reports, Audits and Inspections to ensure the quality of reporting, that corrective actions are assigned and closed in a timely manner and uphold the basic principle as set out in the Operating Procedures and Control Standards for the business.

Who are we looking for?

You will be able to demonstrate competence with significant experience of construction industry safety, health and wellbeing experience within a similar Tier 1 construction business working on major projects at a senior level with a high level and applied understanding of the principles of business HSW strategy, issues and legislation, and its interpretation into practical terms preferably as a Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH).

  • A strong communicator and a proven ability to build positive working relationships at a senior level
  • A demonstrable understanding of behavioural safety to enable you contribute to our behavioural safety program “Think Safety Differently”
  • Strong leadership skills focused on strategic value
  • Able to build positive working relationships, internally and with the supply chain
  • Confident and assertive, able to manage challenging scenarios
  • Innovative by sharing ideas and challenging standard practices
  • Ability to co-ordinate and manage own workload, and prioritise accordingly
  • Ability to line manage, coach, and mentor others and plan workload for the regional team
  • Keen to drive efficiencies through continuous improvement
  • Ability to train others
  • Proficient skills in standard Microsoft Office 365
  • An appropriate level CSCS Card is a requirement for this role enabling access to our projects
