We're looking for an Operations Manager to join our Transportation team based in Shrewsbury. Contract: Full time, Permanent

 

What will you be responsible for?

As Operations Manager you'll be working within the Street Scene & Landscapes team, supporting them in working seamlessly across client, contractor, and supply chain functions, ensuring stakeholders are all working as one unique team, delivering the best possible service for the council and communities. This role requires a combination of technical and operational expertise, leadership skills, and a passion for urban environment improvement.

Your day to day will include:

  • Working operationally with the Alliance Executive Manager for street scene  delivering, shaping, mobilising, and managing the service in alignment with the alliance's objectives, upholding Kier and Shropshire Councils values, vision and mission
  • Growing internal relationships, building relations with both internal and external partners, achieving specified outcomes, organising and facilitating meetings as necessary, and overseeing the implementation of policies relating to street scene and landscape operational matters.Working closely with Shropshire Council officers supporting enforcement activities and the specialist supply chain contractor securing the highest standards of efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of street scene services
  • Overseeing all service activities with adherence to budget constraints ensuring the delivery of first-class levels of service, focusing on achievement of accurate forecasting, and driving the development of innovative delivery solutions improving the customer experience, protects, and enhancing the environment
  • Leading and coordinating a range of initiatives and responses with colleagues addressing diverse issues in collaboration with councillors, town and parish clerks, colleagues from other departments, partner organisations, businesses, and members of the public. Acting as a representative and ‘Ambassador' for the street scene function within the authority's geographical area of responsibility
  • #Engaging with and responding to customer service requests and formal complaints, managing outcomes in line with Council policies and timescales. Representing the Council in addressing a range of customer issues, arrange meetings with relevant parties as needed, and formulating both written and verbal formal responses to the public, elected members, and colleagues

 

What are we looking for?

This role of Operations Manager is great for you if:

  • You hold relevant working experience in construction and all highways works and street scene maintenance at a management level
  • Hold TWS training, can drive / possess a driving licence and a certificate in Site Safety Management (attended 5-day course – SMSTS)
