We're looking for a Highways Maintenance Operative (HMO) to join our Transportation team based in Park Gate Motorway Compound, Fareham to carry out a variety of highway maintenance duties as instructed on a day-to-day basis to ensure the efficient running of the Area 3 network. Location: Park Gate Motorway Compound, Fareham
Contract: Permanent – Night Working (payment uplift in place)
Salary: £12.00 - £14.68 (depending on experience) plus benefits
Responsibilities
As HMO, you'll carry out highways maintenance duties as instructed. This will include winter maintenance activities when appropriate.
Your day to day will include:
- Respond promptly to incidents on the network as instructed.
- Work in close co-operation with team members and subcontractors, contributing to the maintenance of a safe and healthy working environment for both the network users and work team by ensuring compliance all H&S procedures.
- Carry out daily defect reports on vehicles and ensure vehicles are maintained in good order.
- Actively promote Health and Safety in the workplace, setting a good example to other employees and ensuring awareness of and compliance with general Health and Safety responsibilities as set out in the Health and Safety Management System.
What are we looking for?
This role of Highways Maintenance Operative is great if you have:
- Asset management awareness – operational level required.
- Experience and knowledge of strict H&S operations and its practical implications
- Ability to work using own initiative and as part of a team
- Valid CSCS card
- 10b NHSS vehicle restraint tickets
- Full Driving Licence
