We're looking for a Graduate Design Engineer to join our Transportation Team based in Salford, Greater Manchester.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a leading construction and infrastructure services company on our structured graduate development programme. These programmes have been designed to provide you with the experiences and tools needed for progression within your chosen career.

 

Location: Salford, Greater Manchester

Contract: Permanent, full time - 37.5 hours per week

Salary: £29,250 per annum

Start date: September 2025

As a Graduate Design Engineer in the drainage team, you will be part of a dynamic team focused on delivering innovative solutions for flood risk management and drainage design. Based in the Exeter office, you'll work alongside experienced engineers to address design challenges posed by climate change, ensuring sustainable water management for various infrastructure projects.

Your day-to-day will include:

  • Supporting the design and development of drainage and flood mitigation solutions for clients such as National Highways, Environment Agency, Transport for London, Local Authorities, and Water Companies.
  • Assisting in the preparation of design calculations, hydraulic models, and technical reports.
  • Engaging with clients and stakeholders to understand project needs and deliver on project goals.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet cost, quality, and programme targets.

 

How does the graduate scheme work?

When you join, you will be enrolled onto our graduate scheme. The programme will take 2 years to complete and has been designed to equip you with the skills you need to excel in your chosen profession and help you achieve professional membership or chartership.

What are we looking for?

We're looking for people due to graduate in 2025, or have recently graduated within the past three years, with a degree in Civil Engineering, Civil and Coastal Engineering, Flood and Coastal Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geography, or a related field. Ideally, candidates will have taken part in a placement, work experience, or similar volunteering opportunity in a relevant field.
