We're looking for a Design Engineer to join our Anglian Water team based in Northampton 

Location: Northampton- mixture of office and visiting various sites within the area, and home working

Hours: 45 hours per week – some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us

In this role you will be working on the Integrated Maintenance, Repair and Development Services (IMRDS) alliance. The team maintain the water supply systems, repairs emergencies like water bursts and develops new ways to better service customers. 

What will you be responsible for?

As a Design Engineer, you'll be working within the Capital Main laying team, who deliver high-quality, efficient solutions for critical infrastructure projects.

You'll be responsible for checking, processing and designing new water mains, diversions, and non-standard connections for development sites. Your role will involve carrying out site visits, creating technical drawings on CAD, and managing customer communications to ensure the smooth processing of each application from start to finish.

Your day to day will include:

• Receive, check and process applications for new water mains, diversions and connections. Liaising with customers to ensure all required information is provided
• Conduct site visits, design water mains layouts on CAD and prepare risk assessments and material lists.
• Monitor and process post-commissioning information, including payment of water mains and liaising with relevant teams for next steps
• Oversee the receipt of as-laid drawings, monitor fire hydrant installations, and issue completed drawings to customers and relevant stakeholders
• Maintain strong relationships with internal teams and external customers, ensuring high level of service delivery and prompt resolution of queries

What are we looking for?

This role of Design Engineer is great for you if you hold:

• A-level qualifications in Math or Engineering
• Experience of using AutoCAD 2006
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels
• Proficiency in IT systems, particularly SAP
• Strong administrative and organisational skills, able to prioritise and balance workloads
• Team-oriented mindset with a customer-first approach
• Full driving licence
