Location: Brixworth, Northamptonshire
Hours: 40 hours per week
What will you be responsible for?
As a Commercial Manager, you'll be working within the Commercial team, supporting them in overseeing the commercial and contractual aspects of a local authority term service contract, managing costs, ensuring value for money, and maintaining financial control over highways maintenance and improvement projects. You will be working closely with operational teams, local authority stakeholders, and supply chain partners optimising commercial performance ensuring compliance with contract terms.
Your day to day will include:
- Leading on and managing the commercial performance of the term service contract, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, monitoring and controlling project costs, adhering to budgets are and mitigating commercial / financial risks
- Working with procurement teams in managing subcontractors and suppliers, negotiating favourable terms and bringing value for money
- Ensuring accurate measurement and valuation of works, including applications for payment, variations, and final accounts, building strong relationships with local authority clients, ensuring service delivery meets expectations and contractual KPIs
- Providing regular commercial reports to senior management and the client, giving transparency in financial performance
- Addressing and resolving commercial disputes efficiently, working collaboratively with legal and operational teams, adhering to relevant legislation, industry standards, and corporate governance policies
What are we looking for?
This role of Commercial Manager is great for you if:
- You can lead and motivate commercial teams successfully within the highways or infrastructure sector, ideally within a local authority term service contract environment, along with a strong understanding of NEC contracts, including administering, negotiating, and managing contractual obligations
- Hold a degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline. MRICS or equivalent professional qualification, proven ability managing budgets, forecast costs, and driving cost efficiencies.
- Can influence, negotiate, and manage stakeholder relationships effectively., demonstrate an analytical mindset with the ability to assess commercial risks and implement effective solutions
