Assistant Estimator (Civils)

We're looking for an Assistant Estimator with a civils bias to join our Natural Resources, Nuclear & Networks team based on the Thames Water framework.

 

Location: Thames Water framework, main office is Gerrard's Cross.

Hours: 40 hours per week  - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us

 

What will you be responsible for?

As an Assistant Estimator, you'll be working within the Thames Water framework team, supporting them in you will manage and deliver the estimating process from receipt of documents to handover to the delivery team.  Be responsible for the accuracy and completeness of your work, with an understanding of all costs associated with the scope of the work assigned to you.

Your day to day will include:

  • Support the estimating process within the bid team or framework team.
  • Representation of the estimating function at team meetings.
  • Input into the bid programme relating to estimating tasks and agree deadlines. Working to strict deadlines.
  • Gain experience of pricing work under various forms of contract including Traditional NEC, Target Cost, Design & Build, Specification & Drawing or ECI bids.
  • Preparation of quantities from drawings and specifications, working with recognised methods of measurement, such as CESMM and MMHW.

 

What are we looking for?

This role of Assistant Estimator is great for you if:

  • Ideally degree/HNC qualified in a Construction or Civil Engineering related subject.
  • 2-3 Years experience working as an Assistant Estimator or Site Engineer or QS for a major civil engineering contractor.
  • Have commercial awareness of various Forms of Contract - NEC, ICE, IChemE.
