Kier Construction have an exciting opportunity in our design team. We are looking for a  Senior Design Manager to join our Scotland Construction business. 

Location: Glasgow / Girvan 

Hours: 40 hours per week  - Can consider some flexibility on hours and hybrid working is available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us. 

What will you be responsible for?

The Senior Design Manager will be aligned with a new build education project in Ayrshire, working closely with the delivery team as well as having some involvement in tenders and pre construction across a wide range of projects. 

As a Senior Design Manager you will provide essential management, subject matter expertise and guidance to drive the success of project from tender to delivery. You may at times take responsibility for multiple concurrent projects at different point of their lifecycle, managing workload to ensure that bid and project delivery teams are provided with the requisite support and expertise.

Your day to day will include:

• Responsibility for the management and delivery of design information in accordance with the agreed design programme and deliverable schedule.
• Ensuring that our appointed design consultants carry out their duties in line with their appointment, interrogating returns to ensure compliance with standards and brief.
• Design input at both preconstruction and construction stage of projects, assessing, mitigating and managing risks connected with design
• Ensuring designs and design work meets health and safety legislation, sustainable building standards (such as BREEAM – the Building Research Establishment's Environmental Assessment Method) and industry codes of practice
• Chairing design meetings, writing reports and giving presentations, The production of design programmes, design scopes, design responsibility matrices, appointments, schedules, record progress and carry out upline reporting
• Ensuring that the design is compliant to relevant legislation and technical requirements

What are we looking for?

This role of Senior Design Manager is great for you if you:

• Hold relevant Qualification in Construction Management, Engineering or Architecture discipline
• Demonstrable  experience in a design role within a main contractor environment
• Have experience of BIM level 2 projects, including COBie data, LoDM

• Have exceptional knowledge of the design process, at commercial and construction design stages with a main contractor.
• Demonstrate intimate understanding of the RIBA plan of work
• Feel you have good all round technical knowledge across relevant work packages concerned with construction of large building projects.
• Can demonstrate up to date knowledge of current building regulations.
