Are you an experienced Construction or Engineering Quality professional? Then perhaps you can leave your mark on HMP Glasgow, one of Scotland's largest construction projects, conveniently located circa 10 miles North East of the Glasgow city. We have an excellent opportunity for a Quality Manager to join our HMP Glasgow team.
This could be your opportunity to get involved in delivering modern new-build custodial facility, delivering a secure, energy efficient and high specification prison for 2000 inmates and staff.
Location: Glasgow, Scotland
Contract: Permanent, full time, permanent, flexibility can be considered simply outline in your application.
What will you be responsible for?
As a Quality Control Manager you'll be working in a project site based role, supporting the operational delivery teams with QA compliance & to manage the areas of quality throughout all the project,. Ensuring that supply chain partners adhere to Kier quality standards , maximising customers' satisfaction and project operating margins.
The role will involve, but not be limited to:
- Support and assist the Operational Teams to ensure a right first-time approach in quality management and specification compliance
- Ensure compliance & operational management in Quality Control Systems, including auditing, risk management, investigations, complaint handling and report writing.
- Providing Quality-related training to equip the Project teams with the skills to drive improvements in Quality performance
- Ensuring the ISO accredited integrated management systems are effectively implemented & monitored, identifying opportunities, and implementing changes to drive continuous improvement
- Managing arrangements for and attending audits, both internally at group level.
- Identifying areas of concern and supporting the contract teams to deliver improvements and analyse the root cause of defects and nonconformities, implement corrective action and update processes with lessons learned
- Promoting a ‘right first time' culture by ensuring all processes are mapped out and maintained to reflect contract operations, supporting the different teams in their delivery of the service through implementing guidance documents, workshop support and corrective action plans
- Making sure contract operations are compliant with business policies and standards, developing and managing the contract audit programme, carrying out internal audits against business policies to check and ensure compliance to business standards
- Promoting a ‘right first time' culture by leading on information management and awareness of compliance needs.
- Driving improvements in Performance Excellence – always working to be better
- Walk round site on a daily basis, interact with site teams & supply chain and report findings on our Dalux platform
- Monitor and report upon the current quality issues on site and if necessary advise on solutions
- Inspect offsite facilities to ensure manufacture meets the specifications and quality requirements prior to being delivered to site.
- Support the team on identifying non conformances and assisting in the closing out to meet specification requirements
- Responsible for ensuring ITP's are in place for all packages before works commence.
- Spot check on the works and ensure compliance
- Assist SM and subs in quality recorded keeping
- Carry out Subcontractor audits
- Ensure that subs have an assigned quality manager / supervisor for the project (site based preferred for larger packages). This can also be a dual role if the sub can prove the supervisor is competent.
- Ensure that there is ‘golden thread' in the continuity of recording and consistency in approach.
- Set up a project quality working group between Kier SM, commercial and project critical path subs to ensure dialogue on quality aligns with deliverables, programme and right first time approach
Who are we looking for? (Skills and experience)
- Strong technical construction knowledge gained within large build projects
- High level understanding of of ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 management system standards
- Experience with working Quality platforms, general IT literacy
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills across wide cross section of internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to effectively prioritise and balance tasks and responsibilities to ensue all work is completed in a timely manner
