We're looking for a Buyer to join our Kier Strategic Projects Business.

 

Location: Nationwide.

Hours: Full time, Permanent. Ask us about flexible working options.

 

**Whilst this role can be based anywhere in the country there will be some expectation to travel and visit sites.

 

Responsibilities

As a Buyer within Kier you will be involved in:

  • Pre- & Post-Construction Procurement – working to approved procurement strategy; carry out package tendering & procurement, requisitions, orders, and supplier performance post-contract.
  • Procurement Process & Compliance – Adhere to Group Commercial Standards (CS3) and KCSP Procurement Systems, maintain procurement filing structures, and assist in template subcontract documentation production.
  • Tendering & Supplier Management – Tender, negotiate, compare and place sub-contract orders, and oversee supplier and subcontractor relationships.
  • Risk & Cost Management – Implement risk mitigation strategies using KPS and drive value engineering and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Training & System Support – Provide procurement training, support site teams in Kier Direct and Oracle systems, and ensure effective purchasing and order management.

What are we looking for?

  • Educated to or working towards at least HNC/D Level in a construction discipline.
  • Good communicator – both oral and written.
  • Sound IT skills – proficient in Oracle is an advantage
  • Committed and pro-active with adherence to quality.
  • Previous experience of working for a main contractor.
